This uptick in flower sales is both exciting and challenging. I've learned quickly what doesn't work! I'm using my nervous system and my kids behaviors as guides for whether something needs to change. When I get agitated and they start to act wonky I know I need to create more time for family. It's been interesting!
I finally got my dahlia tubers all potted up. This is both wonderful and frustrating since some of the tubers I left in the ground already have buds! Next year (I always say this) I will start earlier!
It's nice to be able to bring beauty to the world as we navigate a disease and an economy that are both unprecedented and frightening. I'm also growing a lot more veggie plants (to give away as we don't have any room!). At this point I'm sticking to primarily flower farming (with soil building a natural and wise foundation for that) but it's good to know that I have both the skills and resources to pivot if need be. These are interesting times for sure. I hope you and yours are well and remain so. I hope your neighborhoods are figuring out how to support each other and build local resilience, I hope the networks you've created of friends and businesses are sustaining and supporting themselves. WE NEED EACH OTHER MORE THAN EVER!
Take care and be well!
